CHRISTOPHER MIERS R.B.A.

Christopher had a career in the Army with The Royal Green Jackets. It was whilst Christopher was serving in the Army that he met the painter Ken Howard in 1973, who advised and encouraged him to concentrate on painting. He left in 1985 for a five year appointment as Secretary of the Arts Club and since then has painted full time.
Primarily a landscape painter, Christopher’s approach is to ‘observe and be touched by the scene’. His preference to work ‘en plein air’ is evident in his delightful scenes, often executed at dawn or dusk when the light is softer. His paintings show more than just a record of the moment; they capture the feel, smell and depth of the scene, and keeping them small, means they can be completed before the light changes.
In 1986, he was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions since then.
